Brain Injury + Concussion
Brain Injury can be caused by an accident (i.e. falls, motor vehicle accidents, sport-related injury, military combat, domestic incidence) or an illness. It can result in cognitive, speech, and language difficulties. Symptoms that persist for weeks or months after a concussion may be a sign of post-concussive syndrome (PCS).
Here at Navigating Neuro Speech Therapy, I address recovery by taking a holistic approach. If you are experiencing any changes in your thinking (i.e. problem-solving, attention, memory, planning), communicating (i.e. word finding, learning new information, comprehending directions, social communication behaviors, confidence), sensory, and emotional well-being as a result of brain injury, a speech and language evaluation may be most beneficial for you.
We will focus on changes in communicating and thinking by identifying symptoms and providing education, instruction, and training to improve confidence and participation in preferred activities. The ultimate goal is a successful return to school, work, and life.
